quote [ Two investors in Juicero were surprised to learn the startup’s juice packs could be squeezed by hand without using its high-tech machine. ]

A throwaway electronic gadget for the landfill and a fistful of garbage for every $7 half-cup of juice?! WTF is wrong with people? Seriously, just go buy a case of juice in bottles... or better yet, just eat the fucking vegetables. Or is fibre somehow not a useful part of this healthy lifestyle?

Bingo!

It is breathtakingly daft.

Just saw a tweet on this issue. The line was, 'You don't need the juicer to squeeze juice from the Juicebro packet, but you do need it to squeeze $120m out of VC's."

Nailed it.

Yeah, that part of it is obvious...it's just disappointing that it actually works. Missed a trick, though - they could have teamed up with Steorn to make the JuicerOrbo; a juicer that produces free energy with every glass!

Oh boy, I just love seeing hipster getting scammed by pretentious shits like this.

This reads like it's straight out of an episode of Silicon Valley.

Which starts up again this weekend!

Coming soon, the Ketchupo. For only 399.95 you can have anti-oxidant-rich tomato-based consumables freshly squeezed onto your food using state-of-the-art disruptive technology the leverages the cloud to optimize condiment delivery using crowd-sourced knowledge-bases. If you pre-order, you will also get a season pass giving you exclusive access to Mustard.

At first I relished the idea of condiment DLC packs but the Mustard DLC just doesn't cut the mustard.

Only thing i ever squeezed to make juice is lemons or oranges. Everything else gets the liquify setting on my blender.

Im sure this machine only exists is because the silicon valley investors just wanted a machine for their kitchen and nothing else.

2 minutes for 8oz of juice, when it comes as what looks like a large capri sun. A blender's faster.

"a new model of food delivery, where fresh fruits and veggies are delivered regularly to the home."

I don't know how old this guy is, but this is not a new model at all. We used to have a veggie guy come to our house when I was kid (1970s/80s) and now as an adult I have at least three companies in my New Zealand city who will deliver fresh fruit and vegetables to my house - not counting the Blue Apron type meal ingredient companies.

I feel like it's this lack of depth in the understanding of the market and what's being sold to people that distinguishes a lot of tech-type start-ups in non-tech fields. (Also, anyone championing organics is an idiot whose judgement cannot be trusted).

The Juicero is proof that venture capitalists are no smarter than the general population.

Paraphrased Bojack Horseman:

"Why is everyone obsessed with juicing anyway?"

"Because juice controls the media."
