NES Classic Edition has been discontinued

quote [ Last shipments hit stores this month

“NES Classic Edition wasn’t intended to be an ongoing, long-term product. However, due to high demand, we did add extra shipments to our original plans,” it told IGN.

Those extra shipments never made it any easier to purchase the NES Classic Edition. Prices skyrocketed on reseller websites throughout the hardware’s short life. Any time a retailer received a limited quantity in stock, the entire shipment would sell out in minutes. ]

I guess it became a hassle for Nintendo to meet demand, what with everybody in the fucking world wanting one. Goddammit, Nintendo!

RasPi + RetroPie + USB/Bluetooth controller. Plays NES, SNES, Arcade, etc...basically every console up to N64/PS1, where it gets spotty.

Nintendo seems to be suffering from bad management decisions.

Shorter Nintendo: keep making your own emulators guys, we don't want your money.

We dumb lucked in to buying one, were in Toy 'R' Us for something else, got shunted to customer service since the one check out girl was overwhelmed, and there it was. Just sitting there, on the counter, all sexy like. I coyly asked if she was going my way, and for the low, low price of $45 (we were at Toys 'R' Us because we had a $15 GC burning a hole in my pocket), she was!

Insane amounts of FFI, Donkey Kong, all three SMB and Kirby have been played in my house recently.

Seriously, can't believe they're discontinuing it though, seems short sighted unless they plan on finally opening the eShop or whatever it is called for the Switch and uploading a craptop of 8-bit games for it.

I was thinking maybe by next christmas, they'd be available at the $60 MSRP, I just couldn't bring myself to pay the scalpers an extra hundred.

Maybe they're going to replace it with SNES classic.
