The article makes it sounds like there was nothing between this coin and the outside world but a glass case and a glass window. I little more security would have been good.

sadly, cant really get more info on this case. the museum isn't talking with reporters other than to say the coin was behind bullet proof glass and there was a ladder found outside a broken windowon the buildings exterior.

A ladder, a hammer...looks like some real a-list criminal masterminds planned this gig.

Time to swing by the local hardware stores and see if anyone bought the stuff to build a forge and crucible.

How the hell do you get a 220 lb disk of metal out a window, down a ladder and off down the street? The thing's about the size of a manhole cover and weighs about as much as I do- you can't just tuck it in a backpack.

If this were a movie, I'd expect it to be still in the building, disguised as a modern sculpture exhibit.
