Btw Obama's Russia embargo is preventing Exxon from touching most their oil stores... in Russia.

That's very cute.

But if there's one takeaway from today's utterly surreal, insane press conference, and how it will be spun on the left and the right, it's that liberals are wrong about Trump. Sociopath or not, the guy is still a master of media manipulation and playing to the choir.

That press conference was on point. Trump took no prisoners during that and called the press what they are: lying, fake news generating buffoons.

His example of the NY Times getting it completely wrong and running a front page news story about it, only to have to retract it the next day because it was completely false. But the retraction is buried in the pet obituary section or some shit.

What happened to a press that ensures there are three sources completely seperate from one another? Journalsim is dead in the United States. It is all nothing more than a daily propaganda piece for a political view point.

My grandfather showed me how to deal with people who blather on about lugenpresse.

I'm upmodding not because I agree with you, but because you're perfectly illustrating my point about playing to the choir.
Depending on their political leaning, people saw two completely different press conferences. HuffPo called it a '77 minute meltdown'.
Despite what I saw as non-stop bullshit, I really thought he did a masterful job. Even as I watched it, shaking my head in disbelief, I knew his fans would love it.
And sure enough, a genuine thanks for confirming that.

TRUMP EATS THE PRESS

77-MINUTE MELTDOWN
sanepride said @ 12:01am GMT on 17th Feb
Yep. And guess which version the House Republican majority subscribes to?

"“Better to get your news directly from the president. In fact, it might be the only way to get the unvarnished truth.”
- Rep. Lamar Smith (R, TX), chairman of the House Science Committee

That's why we shouldn't get our hopes up on impeachment anytime soon.
bbqkink said @ 12:15am GMT on 17th Feb
The only thing that will cause impeachment is that he holds up their agenda of tax cuts and deregulation. The charges won't have anything to do with that but that will be the reason. I still think his greed and ego bring him down some sort of back door business deal.

On the topic of making false claims: Has Trump ever retracted his lie about having"won the popular vote"?

Apples and oranges.
sanepride said @ 2:18am GMT on 17th Feb
I don't know where coffeejoe got that. There was a jab at NY Times running a story he said was fake ('about the women and me') and that he demanded a retraction but never got one.

"...or some shit"
Say what? There's the biggest set of weasel words I've seen in years!

No. If you're going to take issue with something, especially something as inflammatory as the claim that a generally-respected newspaper is distributing false stories, fucking get the quotation correct. "...or some shit" doesn't cut it and makes your comment defamatory at best and slanderous at worst.

I don't care about your politics; frankly I think that Donald Trump is mentally ill and that he genuinely needs serious help. If he's important enough for you to defend, do it honestly, FFS.

That gave me perspective. It really sound like a good thing. I might actually have a little tea party of my own, incorporating this.
