Confirmed: Donald Trump to rally in Melbourne on Saturday

quote [ President Donald Trump will appear at a rally that begins at 5 p.m. Saturday at Orlando Melbourne International Airport.

Trump-related merchandise will be sold at this event. ]

And for his first trick - he will shove an egg up his ass and call himself a chicken.

Checking into a hospital for mental evaluation would be better.

He's shoring up his base and keeping them motivated in preparation for his impeachment
bbqkink said @ 5:09pm GMT on 16th Feb
He still hasn't crossed the line with his base, he can still get away with anything. This is more to show the "Establishment" who is in charge. Would be amazing if he couldn't draw a crowd...but very doubtful in the place he is having his rally.

XregnaR said @ 2:13pm GMT on 16th Feb
Fer chris sake, doesn't he have anything better to do?

On second thought, maybe we should schedule a lot more of these to keep him occupied...
midden said @ 2:21pm GMT on 16th Feb
I'm pretty sure that cheering crowds are the main reason he ran for office in the first place. All that "chief executive" stuff is just a means to an end.
sanepride said @ 3:56pm GMT on 16th Feb
He ran for office to boost his brand. The cheering crowds are what kept him going.
Still seems apparent that he never expected to actually win, and never had a real plan of what to do if he did.
midden said @ 1:34am GMT on 17th Feb
Yes, brand boosting, ego stroking, whatever it takes to make it more clear to himself that he is, in fact, the center of the world.
sanepride said @ 1:56am GMT on 17th Feb
I was thinking more personal profit but at this point yeah, I think there's little difference between the brand and the ego.
midden said @ 4:23am GMT on 17th Feb
At this point, I think the money is a total abstraction; profit is more about ego than dollars.
midden said @ 2:19pm GMT on 16th Feb
I'm guessing his precious ego is getting pretty bruised after the last few weeks of bumblefuckery and he needs to see a crowd cheering for him to avoid slipping into catatonic withdrawal.
knumbknutz said @ 4:40pm GMT on 16th Feb
Come on now - he"s just a poor delicate orange snowflake, and he's probably worried about getting fired. I suspect at the one meeting he actually attended this week, that they were kind and skipped the part about treason and federal pen time.

No worries, after his little white-power group circle jerk is over, they can tell him.

When this story broke on Tuesday it really seemed like a super-Watergate type bombshell, and by any historic measure it should be. Really this puts him just one step from clear felonious impeachable behavior. Problem is impeachment must commence in the House, and while the Senate at least is talking bipartisan investigation, Republicans in the House, especially oversight weasel Chaffetz, remain Trump's loyal, compliant bitches. So now I have the sinking feeling that no matter how egregious, even criminal the so-called president's actions are, there will be no real accountability for at least two years- and even then only if there's a shake-up in the House, which seems right now like a long-shot.
knumbknutz said @ 6:57pm GMT on 16th Feb
With the gerrymandering that has been firmly put in place the last 10 years, I wouldn't bet on a house shakeup in at least the next 8-10 years.

Unfortunately, the only thing that will get trump out of the WH, is if pence can steo in as the GOP's darling blue-eyed son, but this is shaping up to be one of those deals that can bring him down as well. And I am not sure in president pence would not even be worse than president trump at this point.

I'm thinking this is "circle wagons" time in DC, and the career politicians are sending trump away for a little while so that they can cover their own asses before the shit really comes down.

I'm not too optimistic at this moment, but the natives are restless and there's always the possibility of a voter revolt if things go south or at least don't perceptibly improve for the typical Republican demographic.
Here's a very interesting new report on these folks:
The biggest beneficiaries of the government safety net: Working-class whites

And right now, their elected representatives are working hard to roll back these very safety nets. And if there's one thing that working class people object to more than government entitlements, it's their government entitlements being taken away.

I am hoping the place can be packed with protesters?

They probably won't let any obvious protesters in, "for security reasons."
steele said @ 2:35pm GMT on 16th Feb
Probably not. Trump is popular down here.
sanepride said @ 3:51pm GMT on 16th Feb
You can bet there will be protesters there.
How protesters plan to get under Trump’s skin wherever he goes.
Whether or not they're succeeding is debatable, due to the co-called president's persistent denial of reality-

I'll be there. He's going to be literally a few blocks from my house. Fucker needs to know he's not welcome.
steele said @ 4:46pm GMT on 16th Feb
I'm sure there will be, but that wasn't the question.
sanepride said @ 5:31pm GMT on 16th Feb
OK, so maybe it won't be 'packed' with protestors, but as we saw in the campaign, even just a few vocal protestors don't mix well with Trump loyalists.
And the thing is, while having a big rally with mostly adoring fans may be the standard fare of campaigning, a sitting president doing this creates a very different impression.
knumbknutz said @ 4:37pm GMT on 16th Feb
From what I understand, The airport he is doing it in is in Melbourne which is deep in the heart of Trump country....I noticed he's not doing it in Orlando.
