Kid Rock Being Discussed as Potential Senate Candidate: Report

quote [ Kid Rock name has reportedly been thrown out as a potential Republican contender for Michigan Democrat Debbie Stabenow's Senate seat next year.

In the past, Rock has been a vocal supporter of Republican candidates, having described his politics as "more libertarian." Last year, Rock got behind Donald Trump's winning presidential bid to perform at the Republican National Convention and in 2012 he performed at a Mitt Romney rally in Michigan during his run for President. He even began selling Donald Trump merchandise in his online store, including shirts that read "God, Guns & Trump" and "Make America Badass Again" hats. ]

Oh sure - why the hell not. Nothing is too stupid, idiotic, or silly to possibly happen here anymore.

Just a reminder that even before Trump we've had two movie actors as governor of California, one of whom became president, plus Sonny Bono, Gopher from the Love Boat, and that guy from 'Dukes of Hazard' all serve as members of Congress, and all fairly competently. And let's not forget the distinguished Senator Al Franken. So as precedent, this isn't so stupid or silly. Also, apparently Joe Piscopo (former SNL cast member) is considering a run for governor of New Jersey.

honestly, for president of 'merica here, would you vote for kid rock or sonny bono?
sanepride said @ 3:07am GMT on 16th Feb
Well neither would be my first choice, but for a Republican Sonny was actually a fairly reasonable, moderate congressman.

Aside from Sonny being dead?...

Seriously, though, in his youth Sonny was an idealist hippy type. At least some of that remained until the end, from what I could see. He wouldn't have made a great president, but there have been far worse.

Kid Rock, on the other hand, has yet to show any truly redeeming characteristics. Other than that he's not Ted Nugent.

He was a tree hugger to the end.

Eh, we're already ruled by dead presidents, might as well make it official.

My wife's cousin was a reporter in DC when Jessie the Body got elected Gov of MN. I remember emailing the guy and saying, gee, if i wrote a novel about a pro wrestler as a politician as a heavy handed metaphor for politics being a game played by rules other than those publicly stated, nobody would buy it, it's too ridiculous.

Funny how the limbo bar moves with time.

And then there's Al Franken, who as far as I know has been doing great as Senator.
