YouTube Cancels PewDiePie Show, Pulls Channel From Ad Program After His "Death to All Jews" Stunt

quote [ Google’s YouTube has canceled the second season of PewDiePie’s reality show and pulled his channel from its premium advertising program after the Swedish-born vlogger’s prank involving an anti-Semitic slogan gained widespread notice.

The announcement from YouTube came just hours after Disney’s Maker Studios said it was terminating its relationship with PewDiePie, as first reported by the Wall Street Journal, over the same videos. ]

Don't worry, he'll be fine.

I have to admit that I'm getting old. My 13-year-old nephew loves this guy, and really wants me to enjoy him too, but all I can think is why on earth would you watch a smarmy asshole play a video game instead of, y'know, playing the fucking game yourself?

Honestly, the part I don't like isn't the "play games" bit - I watched a beautiful 100% playthrough of AM2R last night, since my computer won't run it. It's the smarmy asshole bit that I hate about Let's Plays - just shut the fuck up and play the fucking game, I don't want your stupid commentary and bad attempts at being funny.

I have to say I quite like watching people play video games. It's less stressful than playing yourself, its often edited to show highlights, and has funny/interesting commentary. You can kind of sit back and armchair quarterback the tactics and strategy as the game is playing out.

So yeah, its not unlike watching sports on TV.
mechanical contrivance said @ 3:13pm GMT on 16th Feb
There are only two types of game play videos I like. One is Awesome Games Done Quick, which is watching the best players in the world at a particular game. The other is Renegade For Life, which is watching Vegeta play games.

They are mostly woodworkers, machinists, welders, etc. The sharing of valuable knowledge done well is totally worth a few bucks a month to me, especially since I block youtube adds. Some of my favorites in the spoiler.
