Reminded me just how much video surveillance there is in the UK. This article shows the upside of that intensive monitoring of the population, with a child abduction solved in part using the footage obtained. There are downsides as well - it will be interesting to see how this evolves in coming years.
Since I live in the USA, I'm not on camera any where near as much. I sometimes wonder if I and my fellow citizens would behave better if I was under observation more often. |

After I was confronted and followed by a gang of young men in London who told me that they could beat me up with impunity because there were no cameras in that area, I have had difficulty hating cctv like I'm supposed to.

You should see the volume of cases that are NOT solved because the CCTVs didn't have storage, were too blurry, etc.
