And notice that one of the regular newspaper columns here is, "Dr. Gridlock." This is why I usually work 7-3 when possible, avoiding the worst of the traffic.

Hahaha, traffic here is lighter at those times, but can still be pretty heavy.

Lighter is all you can hope for. Even at 7 & 3, what should be a 30 minute drive at can turn into 90. On the flip side, sometimes I work 10:30-7:30. I also work one weekend day a week, with Mondays off, so that helps.

steele, if you can look at the history of this post, you should see in the first version that some stray code in the title seriously borked up the display of the rest of the post. Though, it would not surpise me if there were significant class disparities between the groups at DC on the different days.

People with jobs generally have commitments on Fridays, but not Saturdays.

I was there in 2009. It was bitterly cold, huge crowds, but amazing positive energy. When W's chopper flew over the Mall hundreds of thousands sang 'nah nah nah hey hey hey goodbye!'.
Eight years later I couldn't even watch on TV.

Ah - the sweet smell of a draining swamp - his first executive action raises mortgage costs for millions of first-time homebuyers and will be a windfall for mortgage insurers. Nothing says "make America great again" like making it harder for working-class people to afford their mortgages and lining the pockets of your lobbyists.

The rationalization for the Trump voter is already a part of GOP gospel. They firmly claim that it was poor people that caused the housing crisis, so there's no problem with making it harder for them to get a home.

Washington D.C. leans heavily Democrat. Federal employees in the D.C. area get a Federal Holiday for the Inauguration and I imagine that many of them didn't come out as they prepare for Trump to cut their jobs.

But they had plenty of time to come out the next day!
