A Swedish pharmacy made a billboard that starts coughing whenever a smoker is near

As a former smoker I think this is extremely rude. And maybe that is the point but don't call it a friendly reminder. Smokers have to go out and away from people (one of the reasons I liked it) and pay out the nose in extra tax. Now you have a sign that coughs at them. It is rude but it will probably work.

I don't think the sign is as rude as a smoker smoking around a bunch of non-smokers.

But you get to go outside and hang out with the other smokers. It's a great way to meet people and friends.

Lol, I've been a motorcycle mechanic now for 8 years. When I started ever person I worked with smoked. The shop I'm at now noone smokes. But it has always been a way to take a min and step outside.

I'm probably one of the few people who started smoking at age 30 and it was a business decision. In a five minute smoke break with the judge and opposing council you could get done what would have taken two hours in the court room on the record.

That sounds like it should be illegal.

Which part?

Smoking near a courthouse of course! Those things go up like tinder boxes.

How is that different from the judge calling for a meeting in his chambers?
zarathustra said @ 9:08am GMT on 12th Jan
You could do it in chambers, or in the court off the record, but taking it out of the court room brings a non-adversarial aspect to it that makes thing easier. For example, after evidence and before closing you are hanging out having a cigarette and decide that you all agreed that they guy was credible but have a disagreement on if the facts fit one of, say, five essential elements of the claim. The judge says he also has a question about one of the others. You have now agreed to limit your closing arguments to the ones that are really the only issues and stipulate the rest or you work it out on the spot.

Now you go back inside for five minutes of closing each or a simple stipulated verdict rather than going back in for a half hour argument on each side followed by a half hour decision.

It's amazing what information you can pick up in the smoke pit.

This looks to be in the middle of a busy walkway, not out and away from people.

So is it a smoke sensor or nicotine sensor?

Because like if it's the later could one not overload the sensor "port" {with Snus) and give teh billboard a coughing fit.
