Blaming the storm kind of downplays the effects of the huge hole we cut through the tree.

I wonder if anyone heard it...

However, there are still three coastal redwoods (taller and more slender than sequoias) with tunnels cut through them. They’re all operated by private companies, the Forest Service says

How does one operate a tree?

I'm going out on a limb here, but they probably operate the cash collection en root to the tree.

I wonder if they use branch offices.

Don't worry if you owe them tolls, their collection agency is all bark and no bite.

I wood knot bet on it.

The same way you operate most businesses in america. Prey on the addicts.

I did wonder if these trees could grow in other places, but apparently they don't like most other non-costal environments (it's very drought-intolerant and temperature-extreme intolerant). When I typed "can sequoias trees grow in" the autofill gave me Wisconsin, Colorado, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, making me wonder why those states topped the list.

I mean, planting one of these things in most residential areas would be a big "fuck you" to someone a couple of hundred years down the road, so maybe those states are where the long-term prankster populations are centered?

Getting results on autofill only tells you that people search for those things. Nothing more.

i drove through this as a kid. sad to hear its gone.

If only the tree was armed - or, um - branched, this never would have happened.
