I moved last year, and saw that there was a local Jewish delicatessen. So I went to try it out, and the DIDN'T SELL REUBEN SANDWICHES. I don't know how they got away with calling themselves a Kosher deli.

Is a Reuben really kosher? It has meat & dairy, among other things.

It's typically served without cheese in Kosher delis, which is how I like it anyway.

First the Roxy, now the Carnegie?

Fuck it. If Gray's Papaya closes before I can make it back, I riot.

I had to check, because most of them are gone, but it looks like there is one Gray's Papaya left.

72nd and Broadway, right?

Yep -- I had always gone to the one in Greenwich Village, which has been gone since 2014.

between that and Chinese dumpling places, you can get a lot of food in NY for cheap

I like the way the article refers to their illegal gas hookup as a "gas leak."

Well on the bright side, NYC may have lost an iconic deli but they did gain a a new subway line after nearly a century of planning.
