Practical telepathy

quote [ Streams of pseudo-random bits representing the words ?hola? and ?ciao? were successfully transmitted mind-to-mind between human subjects separated by a great distance, with a negligible probability of this happening by chance. ]

'Practical telepathy' is what our national media dubbed this, but I wouldn't go that far. Yet.

Tl;dr version,
Message sender's brain waves produce binary code by imagining moving his feet (0) and hands (1). Code is picked up by sensors & sent from India to France via Internet. Code is scrambled to a psedorandom pattern and induced in the reciever's brain in the form of 'phosphenes,' which is the brain's sensation of light flashes without light actually being involved. The code is descrambled, and there's basically no chance that they could have gotten it so right purely by luck.

I think it's the same research as turning on or off a device with your brainwaves.

But we also made progress with reconstructing what a person is seeing using only their brainwaves. We're almost there.

Good, soon we're going to need telepathy to outwit our robot overlords.

This is the equivalent of "Watson, come here. I want you."

I'm not sure what happens after that.

You have to beat someone to the patent office.

I patent joke threads in which each person claims to have already patented the thing that the last person based their own patent on.

The fanfic writer jerks themselves into a stupor, and never finishes the story?
