Donald Trump broke the conservative media

quote [ Donald Trump has severed the roots of the conservative media ecosystem. Where does it go from here? "
Some conservatives tried to fight back against Trump, pleading with their audiences to see what they contended to be the rational point of view, but their arguments seemed to go unheard.

One of the chief problems, Sykes said, was that it had become impossible to prove to listeners that Trump was telling falsehoods because over the past several decades, the conservative news media had "basically eliminated any of the referees, the gatekeepers."" ]

When you teach people lies, expect them to believe liars.

Also, more terrifying Trump + Putin lovin' in the extended

Ah, Sputnik "News." A source that's only taken seriously by pro-Putin diehards over at Reddit's r/worldnews and r/TheDonald.

It's amazing to think that many of these Trumpers were comparing Obama with Stalinist Russia only a few years ago, and now they want to dry-hump the leg of a former KGB operative turned President-For-Life.

I have thought this for a little while now....Trump needed a free ride that would take him crazytown... Drudge, Breitbart et al provided the loco-motion. He has tapped into the zeitgeist of the wingnuts, no conspiracy too crazy, no policy too extreme. Keep your guns, build your walls and defend the compound.

Nevertheless, it is my belief that the alt-right and alt-media are neither large enough or influential enough to bring Trump home. Clinton will win... big league.

Unfortunately that will set the stage for more conspiracy theories and possibly more armed stand-offs between patriots and the government.

The GOP in order to save themselves (and the USA) need to re-group into the big tent party it once was and to do so, they need to shed themselves of the interlopers, the conservative Christians, the ultra partisan and the know nothings.

But how can we win elections if we don't continue our decades-long cunning plan to pander to various and sundry blocs of kooks in order to marshal an army of votes? Surely just one more disaffected demographic will turn the tide and secure victory! What about UFO abductees? We can repackage the Star Wars program as an alien deterrent system. Or maybe people with morgellons disease? Obamacare hasn't helped them, has it? Can we turn anti-hipsterism into a political movement?

Aliens stopped landing here after smartphones were invented. They seem to act as a deterrent.

New leaked emails reveal Crooked Hillary in league with alien invaders! Vote Trump to build a wall over the sky and make Zeta Reticuli pay for it!

If I've learned anything from movies and video games, you don't keep the aliens out. You blow them up and steal their technology.

Urban myths like police brutality and racial profiling have been confirmed over and over and over.

I would argue the same way Reagan did... by bringing americans together and appealing to their imagination and promising hope....which is pretty much the same way Obama did.

I tell you, had the republicans fielded anyone other than trump (David Duke excepted), they would have a good chance of winning. But as it is, American will have their first female president.

Save the USA from what? The horror of rich people having to pay their fair share of taxes?
mechanical contrivance said @ 3:26pm GMT on 12th Oct
If Obama didn't get rich people to pay taxes, I doubt Hilary will.
HoZay said[1] @ 3:42pm GMT on 12th Oct
Not if voters don't give her a Dem congress, 'cause that's who controls taxes.

Exactly.

I was just talking about the sputnik article on Facebook and found this to be a much more likely read on the situation than the Newsweek's article.
HoZay said @ 6:22pm GMT on 11th Oct
In which case, it's still a lie, but Trump is just parroting random shit from the internet as if it's real news, and it will never be unsaid.
steele said @ 7:19pm GMT on 11th Oct
Right, but that's not anything new. On the otherside I've already seen the Newsweek article transformed into a "damning judgement" on the legitimacy of the leaked emails. This is basically what the internet is now, a propaganda war under the guise of journalism.
HoZay said @ 8:10pm GMT on 11th Oct
It doesn't help that Assange has thrown away Wikeleaks' credibility. It's clearly no longer the neutral data dump it claimed to be.
steele said @ 8:17pm GMT on 11th Oct
No argument here, but it was never really neutral either. Remember the editorialized Manning video release?

Conservative media's Frankenstein kills them. Good.

However, at this point, this orange Frankenstein is on his way to dividing this country in new and dangerous ways. As mentioned by another poster, I really hope there aren't any armed stand-offs later. Depends if he loses graciously (hah). As a minority there is a fear that we get hardest when this kind of bullshit happens.
arrowhen said @ 6:39pm GMT on 11th Oct [Score:2 Insightful]
I don't think he's dividing the country, I think his candidacy is highlighting the divisions that were already there. By being a loudmouthed racist jerk he's encouraged a lot of racist jerks to out themselves, and I think that's a good thing: if we have to have racist jerks in the world, at least we should know who they are.
satanspenis666 said @ 9:35pm GMT on 11th Oct [Score:1 Interesting]
He's also not really dividing the country. He's helping to divide the a small division of Americans. If you think about 1/4 of Americans are probably Republicans, 1/4 are Democrats, and the remaining half of the country identifies in the middle. To make things more confusing, loudmouthed racist jerks fall into all three of these segments. You need some sort of crazy venn diagram to map who is really being divided.
