Don't buy devices that rely on cloud servers run by one company, because that company will eventually go out of business or otherwise stop supporting your device.
You never needed a smart toaster oven, anyway. |

I've been actively avoiding Smart devices for at least the last decade. The parallels with Right to Repair are profound. It gets harder and harder though. The most recent device we bought was an air fryer, which is essentially a maxed out hair dryer and maybe a 1/3 of the ones we looked at had an App involved somewhere.
