lol. it's not back. the style of trance popular now has been popular since around 2009, a mix between Electro and Deep House. it's boring and annoying, devoid of the intense buildup and progression found in the base genre.
As long as this new version rids itself of the Dubstep style drops and breakdowns of the last decade, I would be pleased. |

I realized that – while the dubstep parts persist – recent stuff like this pretty much mimics late 90s drum'n'base:

If it’s not 30 minutes long with crazy worship-style levels of buildup, it’s not anthem/melodic trance.
On the other hand, bring back Goa. |
