Yes. Cool Edit is great for wave editing, especially useful for recording acoustic instruments. It was bought and improved into Adobe Audition, largely the same program, which is all I use.

I've been using a combination of Goldwave and Cool Edit Pro for all my sound editing since the early 2000's. I thought nothing of the "destructive" method of its editing until 8 years ago or so when I was doing more video editing, using Corel VideoStudio. The ability to just undo cuts and edits and stuff whenever you want in video studio made me realize how CEP was different, that you couldn't undo things the same way. My wife does all her audio editing in Videostudio now, but I still break out CEP because videostudio limits my ability to move an audio track in discrete chunks (frame by frame) which are completely arbitrary to an audio track, and has made it more difficult to line up edits.

I always hated cool edit. Goldwave was better imo

Hyphens make long, convoluted, can't-make-heads-or-tails-of-them adjectival phrases much easier to parse.

You can use the Nitter link then. It worked for me without hassle, though.
