This face tracking feature is very exciting. It's been discussed and prototyped for a long time, but seeing it work this well in a consumer device give me all sorts of tingles.

Right? :D

I just got my stimulus check and while I've been saving most of it, I've been putting a bit of each to treating myself to a little something to expand my VR equipment... Right now I'm torn between the face tracker and, the much more expensive, forearm haptics from bhaptics.

It's a shame GPU prices are so freaking out of control at the moment.

Do you all find you gravitate towards a single game, or do you mix it up? I feel like when I put on my headset, I play Beat Saber 90% of the time.

Not gonna lie, I've got more hours in Beatsaber than any other software. Followed up by Half Life: Alyx, Google Earth, Arizona Sunshine, Duck Season, Account+, Budget Cuts, Crisis Vrigade, and so on.

Doesn't really surprise me though, Beatsaber is a quality experience that works great as a demo for showing off VR because of how simple, but immersive it can get. Plus, it can be a new challenge anytime you download some custom tracks. Google Earth is definitely one of my go-to's while the others were intoxicating enough that I wanted to finish them up and explore all their secrets. Most games I'll play a few hours or so and if I get stuck or it doesn't interest me I'll put it down and that'll be it for a while. Also, I've still got plenty of bundle buys and gifts that I've not even tapped into. Sadly, if it's not one thing it's another and I just don't get to VR as often as I'd like.

If you like Offspring there's a custom Beatsaber track for You're Gonna Go Far Kid that is fun as hell.
It's either this one, or this one.

Also, I think it's this one, maybe one of the funnest maps I've played. Song I've never heard before by a group I've never heard of, but damn you get fucking drawn in by the perfect synchronicity of the map and the song. Rockefeller Street (Nightcore) – Getter Jaani 🤯

I've not tried it, but this should probably be the official beatsaber map of SE.

Oh, btw, if you're into Zombie Shooters, check out PropogationVR, it's simple but impressive. Plus they've released a CoOp DLC.

Based on hours played, looks like I've played the most:
Beat Saber
Raw Data (early sci-fi arena battler/tower defense, was one of the first games I bought)
Until You Fall (excellent fantasy rogue-lite arena battler)
Half-Life Alyx (speaks for itself)
I Expect You to Die (great sitting escape room game, lots of unexpected and unique interactions, multiple methods to solve puzzles)
Pistol Whip (Beat Saber but with guns instead of lightsabers)

I tried Arizona Sunshine, but I just suck at it. I have this thing where if I focus on the sights, everything else becomes doubled. Or if I focus on my target, the sights become doubled. Makes aiming in shooting games really difficult for me.

Accounting+ scared the ever-loving shit out me. Fucking love that game, but I can only play it in short bursts because it's so overwhelming (I know, I'm a wuss).

I've also tried Skyrim/Fallout 4, which them coming to VR is what got me to buy a headset, but no matter what I do those two games give me nauseating vertigo, and I can only play for 10 minutes.

I do have Raw Data, but once I beat it a few years ago, I rarely pick it back up. I hear they've made some changes to it so I probably should tho. I get what you mean about Accounting+, there's a lot going on there. Also for some reason Roiland's VR stuff always includes mechanics about people killing themselves and that kinda gets my goat. It's a pretty indepth game with lots of hidden shit though. I spent like a week or so fucking around with making unity based plugins for it trying to explore the possibility of the hidden zoo level. Didn't find it, did discover the basketball rim was blocked off by an invisible collider though, not sure how people are getting those achievements besides hacking it.

I do have I Expect You To Die and should probably pick that back up, I liked it but shit happened and I never got around to finishing it. Also, I may have pirated Pistol Whip when it first came out. :D

Sucks about the sight targeting issue, does that happen in real life too? Might wanna check your ipd if it's just VR. I tend to just get a bit blurry, but I've got the Lollipop imagery embedded in my brain from small arms training back in the navy so I manage to get by pretty good.

Something I just saw yesterday is that publisher pages have recommendations sometimes so some of the VR devs are recommending their favorite VR experiences, I'm looking to check them out more regularly to find new shit.

Yup, happens in real life, too. Usually in real life I close one eye, but in the VR headset it really messes with my perspective when I do that.
steele said[1] @ 4:19pm GMT on 23rd Mar [Score:1 Underrated]
Damn, that sucks. I'm really looking forward to the Arizona Sunshine team's new Left 4 Dead homage thing coming out this summer. There's always shotguns? :) We should have enough of us to try and get some coop shit going on in something one of these days.

Read that as 'coup'; business as usual.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you supposed to close one eye when aiming down the sights? That stops the double-vision.
mechavolt said @ 2:44pm GMT on 23rd Mar [Score:1 Informative]
Yeah, that's what I do in real life. But in VR closing one eye kinda makes things a bit wonky. And the doubling I have is worse than "normal", my eyes are just jank.
