On point. If you look at today’s hero’s vs. the 90s, the men are wimps. Hollywood decided showing your ribs makes you sexy instead of being in shape.
To be fair, the above complaint is tone deaf in the context of women dealing with this for much longer..... Hope society can get it together and start featuring finer specimens for us to look up to. |

Its not asexual, though, is it? The women are still plenty objectified and sexualized. And the men are given romantic interests and allude to sex (in other words, every dude has a case of the Notgays), they are just not framed sexually the way women are.
While the MCU obviously has broad appeal, the key demographic historically has been straight white dudes to project power fantasies onto, and that's still the case. Freaking out over Batnipples and blue spacedicks when there's no similar freakout over characters like Black Widow who's entire schtick is male gaze is because straight dudes aren't comfortable with it, specifically. Straight cisdudes want to be the objectifiers, not the objectified. |

and for the record, as a straight cis dude, I definitely do not mind being objectified by either sex. |
