I Am a Heroin User. I Do Not Have a Drug Problem

quote [ You write that only “healthy, responsible adults” should use recreational drugs. Who should decide who is the healthy, responsible adult?

Excellent point. Certainly not me. ]

Interesting points, obviously a little controversial. Thumb via New Old Stock

Dr. Carl Hart is a breath of fresh air regarding research around drug use

counterpoint. he's just a functional addict whom has been lucky enough to avoid mishaps with getting caught.

there's 3 drugs I have seen which start to decay people's reasoning after long term use. cocaine, methamphetamine and all opiates.

That's possible, and I know my first reaction was that he's in denial about his own use, although I don't know anything about the man personally so it's not my call to make judgments like that.
But from what I've read of his research, his science is pretty sound, and he's challenging a lot of myths around things like crack cocaine policy

i don't think he is at all in denial. he's just a functional addict attempting to justify his behaviour.

i spent 2 years doing 4g of ketamine daily. I never robbed anyone. never stole. always paid my rent and debts on time. didnt neglect any of my interests or relationships. i honestly believe it helped me to be a better person and experience empathy more so than i normally do. i didnt at all attempt to justify this behaviour with my friends or family. no one ever gave me shit for it.

I will state that I have been diagnosed with a personality disorder. And it is possible the ketamine usage was helping to correct it. As for his research, possibly it's slanted to fit the views of the researcher and he's pitting it against unsensible american drug policy

forgot to add, that while I was using K, I didn't feel I had a drug problem. I just felt I had an affinity for the drug, like how some people are potheads
