The Tragedy and Mystery of the ‘Best Game of the Decade’

quote [ Now that the fifth and final chapter of Kentucky Route Zero is out, we know how it ends—and have more questions than ever. ]

Apart from the interludes, I only finished part 2. The soundtrack and some of the Easter eggs on the web are exceptionally good. One of the few games pulling off a lot of artsy meta stuff without feeling pretentious.

Alternatively, you can play Interstate Zero

It's kind of the same, except you have the opportunity to strip naked in each location and see how people react.

You're now naked under the desert sun. There are undoubtedly quite a few porn stars filming in the area who can say the same thing.

Yeah, I enjoyed it while I was playing it. I think I stopped at episode 3 before having to wait on 4 and 5. I haven't gotten back around to wrap those two up yet.

But what I did play was thoughtful and interesting. It's great to look at, and definitely felt to me like an ambitious step into what's possible with a game. Like you said, it did a great job of doing that without the pretentiousness.

I have also really moved towards this direction in gaming in general. I like these smaller projects that take a risk, or have a passion about an idea, and try to explore it with less than 10 hours of gameplay or so. Tons of cool little things people have built that seem so much bigger in my mind.
