This makes me sad. People seem to forget that looking out or looking forward creates some of the newest and best discoveries. Spin offs from the space program have led to hundreds if not thousands of innovations and the "Space Race" led to these fast-tracked discoveries in a way we usually only see in war. Maintenance and care of this structure has fallen by the wayside and we still need to learn MORE. - not just about the cosmos but about ourselves. I would take a construction like this over a Dubai Princes high rise any day. |

The USA crumbles like the USSR once did. Unbelievable that the world's greatest economy just let this world-leading piece of scientific equipment simply fall apart due to pure neglect and lack of basic maintenance.
