Happy 10th anniversary to Undercover Boss, the most reprehensible propaganda on TV

quote [ The shameless endorsement of capitalist inequality may as well end each episode by telling Americans to shut up and be grateful their lives are controlled by such selfless exemplars of virtue. ]

Feels like an undercover boss thing

"the most reprehensible propaganda on TV" - sorry but as gross as they are they still need to clear the bar left by bounty hunter and cop shows.

There was also that show where they showed up to reposes peoples cars and offered a jeopardy like chance to keep them.

Reminds me there was this ripoff of Kitchen Nightmares, obviously designed as soothing propaganda for those that think wealth equals mortality. I can't recall the name of it, but the owners were never at fault and were always moral hard working people and the failure of the business could always be traced to some lowly employee who was taking advantage of the owners who'd so generously gifted them a minimum wage job.

We did a version of that show at my old job, it was called "Annual Performance Review."

and yet none of these noble souls were willing to take the extreme action of taking a pay cut...

Just a little off the top...

decapitation and pay cuts are not mutually exclusive
lilmookieesquire said @ 5:32pm GMT on 8th Feb
To be fair, they are both cuts.

My current boss was on this show in our local TV market. Haven't brought myself to watch it yet but I started with another guy doing a similar job, and in our first meeting boss opens with a story about how he fired all the people doing our job at the place that got him on the show.

It was the other guys first job in our country. After the meeting I had to explain how that's not normal here and we aren't that bad.
