We got our first colour t.v. around 72.
A friend of ours (who was pretty much well off) gave about 10 of them to people for Christmas (including us) that year. )
I remember him actually saying he got them when they "fell off the back of the truck" a reference I was too young to get at the time.
I suspect (since he was the owner of a plastic factory) that this was not actually the case but now I'll never know.
