If Logged Into Facebook, Oculus VR Data Will Now Be Used For Ads

quote [ Facebook is changing policies and “will now use information about your Oculus activity...to help provide...more relevant content, including ads.” ]

Facebook openly collecting VR data now. Feels like only yesterday when Facebook bought Oculus and people were telling me this wasn't going to be an issue. Oh fucking boy.

Boneworks from Stress Level Zer0 has officially launched. What many consider to be the spiritual predecessor to Half Life:Alyx. Also, they're the company behind Duck Season which is one of the creepiest VR games I've ever played.

Also Budget Cuts 2 Launched today. Another fun series.

Imagine if your keyboard, mouse, and monitor were tracking you and they had exclusive software that only worked with their specific brand.

Don't forget where that brand was known for running behavior manipulation experiments on their users.

The moment I heard facebook bought oculus is when it was cut from my VR to buy list. I've no beef with steam and the vive.

This doesn't seem to be surprising. We're talking Facebook.

Sooooo... Anyone tried the HTC Vive? I might consider one next year.

I did a rundown on the headsets the other day. Short answer is the htc vive is great, but outdated. If you're definitely married to the idea of having a lighthouse system but the Valve Index is too pricey, then yeah go with the refurbed htc vives. If you're just looking for the best headset you can afford, Samsung Odyssey+ is the way to go, it can often be found for $250 on sale.

Cheers, will definitely have a look.
The index is a little dear. I have the money but would rather spend it elsewhere.
My barrier atm is actually floor space. I have something like a metre to move around in, and an arm span nearing 2m. But will hopefully be moving in the next year or so.

This is why I bought a vive, and have it hooked up to my offline computer.
