How-To:
When buying games, please prefer DRM-free platforms/portals:
Note that, sadly, less and less products on Humble and Groupees come DRM-free. Being graced with a broken installation of the Steam client most of the year made me value the alternatives even more. At some point with the new update it started working again … time to finish all those hidden object games. Also of interest:

I already have a copy, but if you don't, I really recommend Linelight. It's really lovely, just challenging enough, and surprisingly touching if you're into the game.
Takes 4-6 hours to get every last achievement if that's your thing. I really, really liked it. |

These are pretty good to my knowledge: Octodad is a staple, Kick Ass Commandos has good reviews and Frederic looks like a Guitar Hero variant – you're playing Chopin against enemies.

Also wanted to recommend Super Hexagon and VVVVVV. Both good games (I like Terry Cavanagh's stuff).
VVVVVV has no premise, but a fun mechanic that gets explored in lots of creative ways over 2-3 hours. Challenging but rewarding, and just before you could get tired of it, you're done. Super Hexagon is the epitome of a high-score game. But it's super fast and frantic. Most games for me are over in |

Casual/Hidden Objects
Some of these games have been taken off Steam, but the keys should still be valid. |

Note that all of the games are linked to their product page? This was done by using a spreadsheet, some clever search and replace and this script, which opens the first result of the currently selected text in the Steam catalog:
javascript:(function(){window.open('https://duckduckgo.com/?q=!%20site%3Astore.steampowered.com+'+window.getSelection().toString(),'_blank')}()); It's a bookmarklet: you use this code as a URL in your bookmark row, select text and then open the product page by clicking on said bookmark. |
