Rep. Alex Mooney (R-W.Va.) shared audio of a phone call he made from inside a secure room at the Capitol where Democrats were attempting to interview a witness as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

The interview was delayed for hours after a group of conservative Republican lawmakers, including Mooney, stormed into the room to protest what they say has been an unfair impeachment process.

The protest took place inside what's known as a SCIF — an acronym for sensitive compartmented information facility. Such rooms are used when secure, nationally sensitive information is to be shared or discussed.

During his call from the SCIF, the West Virginia lawmaker said he and other Republicans stormed the closed-door hearing because House Democrats “refuse to have a hearing in a transparent way for the people of West Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District can be aware of what’s going on.”

“I represent over 600,000 people in West Virginia who are not given a right to know what’s even being said in these hearings. It is a brazenly attempt for no reason to impeach the president of the United States,” he continued. “I’m proud that over 30 members of Congress, including our whip, Steve Scalise, walked into that room and demanded transparency and justice for our president.

1. It’s both obstruction of Congress and a violation of national security, potentially felonies (and thus exceptions to congressional immunity).
2. The relevant committees have both Republicans and Democrats so it’s not true that Republicans are being shut out. Twelve of the Republicans who participated in this illegal shitshow are on those committees.
3. The current rules are basically the same as the rules established in 2015 and used for the endless Benghazi hearings, and yet the Democrats didn’t act like a bunch of babies back then.
4. Since the Clinton impeachment the rules were changed to grant committee chairs subpoena powers, so a full vote of the house is no longer necessary to open an impeachment inquiry.
5. This stage of the impeachment process is analogous to a grand jury, and grand jury proceedings are always secret.
6. There will probably (unless the Democrats are complete idiots) be public hearings at some point, once the witnesses have all been interviewed and any classified info can be avoided.
7. The House has sole power to determine the impeachment process, so it doesn’t fucking matter what Trump or the GOP want them to do.
8. The Republicans know they have no legitimate defense of Dumpster’s behavior, so what is happening is an attempted fascist coup.

Oh, and:
9. In the lead up to the Clinton impeachment Republicans held depositions behind closed doors just as the Democrats are doing now, and Lindsey Graham was completely in favor of that at the time.

10. I am no fan of Hillary Clinton, but Benghazi was bullshit and yet Clinton showed up and testified for 11 hours straight, unlike the cowards in the White House.

There's no penalty for breaking laws and they know it.

Mooney should be in Gitmo right now. Beefy guy like him would be perfect for the bottom tier of the pyramid.

The US will definitely withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, President Trump has confirmed.

The pull-out will take effect a year later - the day after the 2020 US presidential election – assuming that Mr Trump is re-elected.

Clever cunt, clever... Making a policy his wavering supporters will probably be in favour of, dependent on his re-election.

Not that it matters, but the Clinton impeachment was investigated the same way...

Guessing that was different though because it wasn't a Republican being investigated and it's all about hypocrisy at this point.

It's all so fucking pathetic.
