Medieval Urbanism | Kobold Press

quote [ To actually design intriguing imaginary medieval-esque settlements for your fantasy setting or campaign, that is to craft cities, towns, and villages that feel believable and are thus immersive, you will need some basic knowledge regarding life during the Middle Ages. You’ll need to realize that research and physical relics are readily available for your perusal. ]

Three good pieces by Konstantinos Dimopoulos to be used for your imagination.

I love the posting of urban form articles even though the intent of the article seems to be creating scenes for gaming. What is it that draws the gamer to medieval settings? Why not, say, Spanish Colonial which was highly codified and built on conquest and religious proselytizing?

Yes! I guess this medieval thing is a very flexible canvas for projections.

The author of these pieces has been studying urban planning himself but is also a massive nerd, so this is mostly games-related.
