People have been putting the wrong things in their mouths since we developed mouths. Is a whole snake really so much stranger to us than, say, Tide pods?

At least a rattlesnake has nutritional value along with the toxicity. Tide pods only have toxicity. So maybe people have gotten stupider.

Counterpoint: The bright colors and round shape of Tide Pods triggers the berry-seeking ape brain in us, and look like candy. Snakes, on the other hand, look like snakes.

Yes. Tide Pods look delicious because anything that looks like candy is more appealing to buyers. Snakes don't look like candy.
Although... maybe we should make candy look like snakes. Quick, who here has more money than sense?? |
