Samsung Delays Launch Of $2,000 Folding Phone After Reviewers Find Broken Screens

quote [ The Galaxy Fold was due to go on sale this Friday, but reviewers discovered bulges, flickering and other problems with its 7.3-inch screen. Samsung says it plans to run further tests. ]

Hey I love me some Samsung - I just got a new 65" QLED UHD TV from them and love it. When their stuff is bad though - it's BAD. Props for killing the distribution before the lemons hit the market. That's a painful bottom line they are going to have this quarter because of that.

If they were Boeing they would just release the damn things and do repairs piecemeal.

It was always going to be bad. Flexpai smartphone was shown late last year with a folding out screen compared to Samsung's folding in screen. The crease was always going to be a problem.

When Samsung demoed Galaxy Fold earlier this year, they didn't have devices out on display for CES attendees to check out.

I like their TVs though.

My guess is the engineers always knew the folding screens would be a problem but the executives insisted on releasing this product because the profit margins are so high.

Wouldn't be the first time for Samsung.

As I recall, the whole battery-exploding thing happened under similar circumstances where the engineers told them the case was putting too much stress on the batter but the execs didn't want to make the phone thicker.
