Vegetables are like race: There's really no such thing; it's healthiest to have a bunch of different ones together; and a lot of right-wingers don't like most of them.

I haven't clicked the link, but is this one of those things where because there are some Venn diagram overlaps then everything is madness, mass hysteria, dogs and cats sleeping together?

Sort of. It starts off with the semantics angle, but delves into the history of the word and how classism played a part, as well as some perspective from the biology side.
