Sanders/Warren or Warren/Sanders? The process hasn't been friendly to ran-before candidates since Al ran up the white flag in 2000.

Hey - only 620 days left!

For reals though shouldn’t the sign be

“Please, be polite, thank you!”

Edit: they should have added a “(please)” after the go fuck yourself

Ideally, something like Sanders/Turner. Warren is great for a capitalist, but she's not interchangeable with Bernie. And she's not going to be someone that's willing to move us away from the control of market forces that are driving us towards extinction.

Gen X is just like... a few aging folks with nose rings and bad tattoos.

Yep. Or Sanders/Gabbard.

An issue that does pop up with a Sanders/Warren ticket is that it sets up a situation in which two vacant Senate seats get appointed by sitting GOP Governors. Baker is an open foe of Trump, but, I don't know much about Phil Scott. I want to believe that a Repub governor of Vermont might be a human being, but haven't really followed Vermont gubernatorial politics at all.
steele said @ 10:48pm GMT on 19th Feb
Gabbard may be problematic... as are a lot of the current Dem nominees. Gabbard's Islamophobia and past with LGBTQ issues puts her at odds with a significant portion of the base. Harris's time as a prosecutor (she's a cop!) undermines a lot of her current claimed stances on justice reform. If Biden doesn't get #MeTooed I'd extremely surprised, but he's pretty much horrible on everything, so who knows if it will matter if people bother googling his past. Warren keeps opening her mouth and putting her foot in it, in a classic Lisa Simpson sort of way. Someone just threw a binder at my head, I don't know what that was about.

I'd love to see Lee Carter be pulled up from the VA legislature in a "fuck you, try and kill me and get a real socialist president" move. :D

I love Warren. But she's more of a consumers-first capitalist than anything, for sure. But that's why I like her.
steele said @ 12:00am GMT on 20th Feb
Oh yeah, totally. A couple years back I was pretty hardcore for her, but around the 2016 election and beyond she went from saying the right things to kinda mouthing them instead... Her stances weren't really vibing with the image she was portraying. She's still got some good legislation that I'm all for, but she doesn't go far enough. Also, I don't think she can win. I think that Lisa Simpson-esque 'I say things that are correct and therefore I'm right and you should like me' won't play very well among voters, especially against Trump. Clinton had a bit of that when she refused to acknowledge Bernie voters as having grievances, "I'm winning! Why should I capitulate?" or something to that effect.

My only real issue with Bernie is that he's not near as pro-science as he thinks he is - or as inter-sectional. So someone that understands what is actually medicine and what isn't would be nice as a running mate for him.
steele said @ 7:19pm GMT on 20th Feb
If you don't mind, could you expand on that? I know he caught some flack last run for not being pro-Nuclear power (which I'm okay with, personally) and his vote for SOSTA/FESTA is problematic. Anything else major, or just typical politician that's not technologically literate enough?
Dienes said @ 12:28am GMT on 21st Feb [Score:1 Informative]
He's pro-vaccination and understands that climate change is happening, thank God.

But Bernie has pushed to include alternative 'medicine' (read: not actual medicine) in veteran care and the ACA. He's stated in speeches that holistic medicine is the cure for cancer (which is primarily caused by mental and class issues, like grief, according to Bernie). Yoga isn't going to cure breast cancer, dude. He's actually been thanked in some woo-pushing journals, like Integrated Medicine, for his work promoting alternative 'medicine.'

Sanders is also pretty anti-GMO and has been pushing for GMO-labeling in Vermont. He can't really articulate why GMOs are bad, but instead leans on the tired trilogy of: 1) Republicans don't want to do this so it must be good, 2) Monsanto is an evil cartoon villain, and 3) other places label GMOs so that means we should, too. Except that it will make food more expensive and push the fear angle ("If its harmless why do they need to label it - to WARN us?").

Science literacy was one of the few areas Hillary had him beat. She wasn't/isn't perfect, but she had an edge on him here.
steele said[2] @ 12:44am GMT on 21st Feb
Ah, gotcha. I forgot about those. Thank you. I always thought it was funny that people bring up the sexual repression/cancer thing when there's been links found between prostate cancer and lack of masturbation/ejaculation in men. Obviously not what he was talking about, but it amuses me.

edit: I should note that I'm okay with GMO labeling and alternative therapies in addition to standard treatment practices. ;)

Yeah, because of the UBI angle, I've been watching Yang since he announced. He's basically a Silicon Valley version of Elizabeth Warren. Wants to make capitalism people friendly. I'm for UBI, and would love to see Bernie adopt it for his platform, but I'm not sure about Yang's implementation as it doesn't seem to address the loss of revenue people typically gain from their disability and other payments. He wants UBI to be a blanket payment for everyone and in doing so, wipe out all the "extraneous" offices and departments, but he doesn't really address the additional expenses people have that require attention from those departments.
