quote [ The next generation of naval warfare appears to have come early, as a Chinese naval warship has been pictured out at sea carrying what appears to be an electromagnetic railgun. ]
How about the force fields?

We will stick with reliable steam cannons. You don't have to be Albert Einstein to really work them properly.

Considering that it was designed and tested by General Atomics in San Diego, it works just great.
Putting it on a battleship - well, not the brightest idea the Chinese military have ever come up with. They are basically sitting ducks for anything launched off of a flattop out of its range. |

Gun on Chinese warship is not the one pictured in the thumb. Warship pictured in article is not a battleship. Likelihood that General Atomics would/could be allowed to sell railguns to the Chinese navy: nil.
Unless your post was a sly insinuation to Chinese intelligence agencies having probably stolen the design plans from General Atomics... |

I don't think there are any operating battleships in the world still, right?
Or do you just mean a ship for battle? |

pretty sure rail guns on battleships are the primary thoughts for early implementation of them due to the power requirements and nuclear engines.
