Powerful devices in the 5G era: Do mobile phones cause cancer?

quote [ It's the question that won't go away and, with the increasing prevalence of mobile phones and the incredible power of the latest devices, being asked more often: do mobile phones cause brain cancer? ]

What about increase in socialital dysfunction issues?

Just got a Google Mini 2 days ago, it might not give me cancer. It's made me lazier already though. Don't have to roll over to set an alarm or put music on just talk to oneself in a dark room. I did think though, those crazy people that just stay at home & talk to themselves... give them a Digital Assistant then their just "normal", but might make those learning algorithms a bit iffy.

If I was in charge of everything I would amended it to be "probably not" instead of "no". If it was out right no "Is the world a square?" Then we wouldn't have an article. If there is 1% doubt or a negligible effect that doesn't mean anything in the real world then you can make a fluff article.

I feel like, given how much effort has gone into investigating the issue, even if they do cause cancer the rate must be tiny. X rays and commercial air travel cause cancer too but the risks are acceptable given the rewards.

“If anyone still has concerns, ARPANSA suggests using the hands-free mode, keeping calls as short as possible and making calls where reception is good.”

Hey. Ya. No. I gotta go. We gotta cut this short. I don’t wanna get the cell phone cancer. Sometimes I swear you are trying to kill me.

i don't know about the cancer thing, but i am beginning to suspect my phone contributing to, uh, ED issues because i carry it in my pants pocket.

The Central European Journal of Urology says
There may be a relation between cell phone usage and erectile function. Further larger studies are recommended to confirm our findings.

Didn't read the article. My own experience says that as long as you stay under the SAR limit you are good. As an adult, that is. Because you definitely should not be giving phones to your kids, at least until their skull stops growing, so like, mid teens? late teens? at that point they're basically adults anyhow.

But the transmit power and frequency are generally too low to permeate the skull, so brain cancer is a no.

Breast cancer, and other soft tissues, that may be another story, because they are not encapsulated by a wall of bone.

As "5G" approaches, they issue is operating at higher frequencies and needing to use more power to transmit over the same distances at that range of signals (talking the tens-of-Gigahertz range) - beam-forming antennas are the supposed solution to that, and that should actually reduce the risk since all transmission should be away from your head, whereas legacy devices are omnidirectional.

Worst case, use a headset. Like in Zoolander.
