Thanks for posting this. It's fascinating.

Too bad there isn't accompanying text explaining the procedures.

Also: cataract operations in 1850? I'm guessing they didn't replace the removed lenses with anything, so how did the patients see anything afterward?

I was wondering the same thing... Maybe it's just cosmetic. I imagine they would be less off-putting with the cataracts out, if just as blind as before.
