I built a big house with a library (hidden compartments, coffered ceiling, raised panels on the window wall) in my thirties. I could never quite afford it but I built every feature I wanted and stayed there for eighteen years so I count it a success. I don't think I could muster the same level of enjoyment either in building it or in the satisfaction of it at this point in my life. I also had books then.

btw, I absolutely do want to read Sapiens. It's on my list, I just don't have the time just now. Maybe for december?

No rush, I'm reading it now but very slowly, partly due to work and partly because I'm stopping to think a lot.

I went with SE Book Club instead of Literature because this seems more, um, book-clubby than content-driven, but while we're at it I nominate Sapiens by Yuval Harari, as I think it would make for some interesting discussion - anyone read it or reading it or up for reading it?
