Black Women in Democratic politics

quote [ Oprah Winfrey incredible speech Stacey Abrams Georgia ]

Black women are the driving force inside Democratic politics the biggest and most reliable voting block. They are sometime a thorn in my side but I just wanted to say how much I love them this time of year.

"They are sometime a thorn in my side ... "

Yeah, that's going to need some expounding. I'm guessing racist, but it could be sexist. #intersectionalobjectification

I'm not going to call that racist or sexist but there is no way to comment about this subject without getting into some kind of deep water. I recommend a listening ear and not much else.

I mean, it should be obvious to anyone to anyone reading with the goal of understanding and not just scanning for keywords to trigger the dopamine rush of internet outrage that bbq was talking about black women as a voter demographic. It's not racist or sexist to observe that people of particular race/sex/class/ZIP code combinations tend, on average, to vote one way more often than another.

Black women are a different voting block entirely. I am a Berniecrat, a populist, Black women tend to be more conservative, more religious in their politics. more closely associated with the 3rd way wing of the party. We disagree greatly during primary season which candidate what is important in the platform. But come voting day they are there

Then the GenX and Millennials generally agree with them but when it comes time to vote...they are scarcer the hens teeth.

Bernie forgot to include history in his calculations. He eventually started to come around, but it was too little too late. Democratic socialism can still be racist in its implementation. It is necessary to actively recognize this in order to be taken seriously in American Left politics. Black women know their history.

Oh I think the deal was done before Bernie even made his decision to run. By the time Bernie decide to run the Clintons had already had working agreements with the Churches and local activist. The same people who they had dealt with for years inside Democratic politics.

He has paid a lot more attention and has tried to pay his dues this time, but this time he will have to convince them to vote for him over some honest to goodness Black folks running against him, and unless he does he doesn't win.

so bernie getting arrested while marching for civil rights in 1963 is not a matter of historical record. neither is hillary's 1996 reference to african american children as "superpredators"

interesting

One: the world is bigger than Bernie v Hillary.

Two: white people thinking they solved racism because they marched in the 60s is part of the problem. (TBC, Bernie does not think this, but many of his supporters do.)

Are you sure this guy can't do it just one more time???

Barack Obama's FULL campaign speech for Andrew Gillum, Sen. Bill Nelson

The Democratic closing message is very different from the GOP. This will be a good lesson in Basic Civics for all of us.

I also can't help but notice that Kip Dynamite is in the second row. I guess all that cage fighting radicalized him.

I don't think that's what they're auditioning for:

I feel like torches in front of a plantation style building probably is going to send it's own message overshadowing any nuances your own message may have.
