And another lie disproven...again.

quote [ Minimum wage hikes in six cities: big impact on pay, none on jobs ]

Let me repeat...Raising the Minimum Wage has never been bad for business, never been bad for the government and has never caused job loses...no mater what lies you have been told.

It has pulled people out of poverty, raised tax income for cities states and the federal government and increased local business where ever it has been done

The minimum wage in the United States is set by US labor law and a range of state and local laws. Employers generally have to pay workers the highest minimum wage prescribed by federal, state, and local law. Since July 24, 2009, the federal government has mandated a nationwide minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.

This is one area where I agree with most of you. There's absolutely zero excuse as to why the federal minimum wage can't be at the very least ten dollars an hour.

The larger issue is still inflation though.

The only argument I've heard that makes any sense (and I'm not sure it is a problem) is about inflation. We have had incredibly low inflation for the whole time works have been losing buying power with stagnate wages. Economist seem to think that there does need to be some inflation. And maybe that is because wages need to go up so people feel like they can spend. No inflation or negative inflation is a sign of a slowing economy. We do need to pay people more.

They still need to be able to spend on things that matter. Like rent. Or electricity. Stop acting like FEELING like you can spend is the same as living a decent life.

If a company is netting billions in yearly profits but paying their workers little enough that they qualify for welfare, then the inflation isn't coming from raising wages.

Another witch is in the bag...

Guccifer, the hacker responsible for years of targeted cybercrime against high-profile victims in the US and abroad, will be extradited to the US for his prison sentence after completing a seven-year prison term in Romania, officials from the country ruled this week.

Four-year, four-month term will follow a longer sentence in hacker's home country of Romania.

Cool.

Now let's see the minimum wage be raised to something actually livable in SF, say like $22.

Most of these jobs affected by the minimum wage increases are only working 30 hours per week or less. So at $13 they're still making $10hr "full time".

We are talking about the federal minimum wage which is $7.25. Cities and states can set their own.

I should have worded my statement differently.

My point is that even at $15 hourly, most of the bay area is unlivable at that wage.

Then you need a mayor or city council to raise it even higher. No place in the US will the Minimum Wage no mater what it is pay for a one bedroom apartment.
