It is frustrating when people lump together identities such as race, gender, and SGM in with identities such as liberal, evangelical, partisan.

America has a centuries-long history of mistreatment of the former group to varying extents. When someone makes an effort toward achieving equality for people who have been systemically oppressed, it is dismissed as "playing identity politics", when in reality it is basic justice that is due all. There has not been a systemic disenfranchisement of, say, evangelicals or Democrats, etc. It is not the same.

But there is currently a disenfranchisement of Democratic voters, by disenfranchising groups that tend to vote Dem. Voter ID, closing polling places, gerrymandering, etc is aimed at Democrats. That it harms AA voters is a bonus.
