John McCain, senator and former presidential candidate, dies at 81

quote [ McCain, who has died at the age of 81, was a naval bomber pilot, prisoner of war, conservative maverick, giant of the Senate, twice-defeated presidential candidate and an abrasive American hero with a twinkle in his eye. ]

Lames get they plane shot down like John McCain

I want a fan of his politics, but I have to admit he was more respectable than most politicians, even honorable.

Are you being serious?

Are we forgetting his role in the keating five scandal?

Agreed. He even defended Obama as a decent honest person during the time they were both running for office. Can't see the current crop following in those footsteps.

He helped create the environment that had people calling Obama a terrorist. You're giving him credit for pulling back on the leash of the dog he was waving a steak in front of just a few moments earlier.

Regarding Ted Kennedy:
His late colleague from Massachusetts died from the same form of brain cancer that eventually killed McCain. Both men died on August 25.

I can't help but think the tough old bastard saw that the anniversary of his friend's death was coming up and simply refused to die until then.

It's remarkable that the two were friends. Given that in 1969, when McCain was getting the shit kicked out of him in the Hanoi Hilton, a drunken Teddy Kenned was leaving Mary Jo Kopechne to drown to death in the Poucha Pond inlet.

Friends or not, those two events will be their respective legacies.

I lost all respect for him when he endorsed Bush, even after Turd Blossom's robo calls in South Carolina that implied that his adopted daughter from Bangladesh was his illegitimate black child.

Nah, it's not like McCain's behavior and the ensuing hypocrisy isn't well documented.

And don't think that hasn't disappointed a lot of people. But most leftists I know never saw Bernie as infallible, or even the solution. He's just a step in the right direction.
