Centrist Democrats Want A Presidential Candidate To Take On Bernie. They Just Don’t Know Who It Is.

quote [ At a centrist Democrats’ conference in Columbus, Ohio, the burning question was how to create an economic message that could beat two people in 2020 who have crystal clear economic messages: Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders. ]

Sanders has such a head start, not at all like 2016.

Better be working to win the midterms, else 2020 will be moot.

"Centrist Democrats" should look to Jeff Flake for their candidate. Maybe pull in Jason Chaffetz?

Here is the CBS take on the same story.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — If Bernie Sanders is leading a leftist political revolt, then a summit here of moderate Democrats might be the start of a counterrevolution.

While the energy and momentum is with progressives these days — the victory of rising star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York, buzz about Democratic Socialism and the spread of the "Abolish Ice!" movement are a few recent examples — moderates are warning that ignoring them will lead the party to disaster in the midterm elections and the 2020 presidential contest.

Sanders' wing of the party terrifies moderate Dems. Here's how they plan to stop it.
Party members and fundraisers gathered for an invitation-only event to figure out how to counteract the rising progressive movement.

The 3rd way is still chasing the unicorn, the middle of the road swing voter, even though no proof of them exist.

Democratic Party leaders have slanted primaries toward bland centrists, in the hope of pleasing swing voters and big donors. This strategy gets just about everything wrong—and the data shows it.

They don't have to exist if you'll just vote for them anyway.

Why do all of you act like you are a majority?

Progressives in particular or just people in general? Because it's natural to use yourself as a template for other people in the general sense when forecasting.

Na the far I voted for Jill Stien, I hate Democrats left..they are less than 2% of the population and act like they are in charge.

Whatever the number, it's enough to control whether Democrats can win or will lose.

Man you don't get it at all.

Of the more than 120 million votes cast in the 2016 election, 107,000 votes in three states effectively decided the election.

This election was effectively decided by 107,000 people in these three states. Trump won the popular vote there by that combined amount. That amounts to 0.09 percent of all votes cast in this election.

Meaning if the Democrats hadn't ignored progressives, they probably would have won.
arrowhen said @ 8:48pm GMT on 27th Jul
So... if you weren't one of those 107,000 people what was the point of voting, exactly?
bbqkink said[1] @ 1:30am GMT on 28th Jul
Well in 2016 is was those 107,000 people, it won't be them next time not long ago it was a few people in Florida. Then there is the patriotic duty, the minimum requirement to be a citizen...and it is just stupid to let other people pick your leaders...you wind up with Donald Trump...that should be lesson enough.
