Jogger who accidentally crossed U.S. border from B.C. detained for 2 weeks

quote [ Cedella Roman says she was jogging along the beach south of White Rock, B.C., when she crossed the U.S. border without realizing it. That's when her two-week nightmare began. ]

At least we are consistent in treating people all the same regardless of which border they are crossings, i mean it's not like she was targeted just for having dark skin.

But what about all the American victims of French tourists illegally jogging into our nation? Why is the Fake News not reporting on these Angel Families? I mean, sure American-born joggers probably kill more people per capita, but they're not doing so while here illegally!

This sort of thing ought to cut down on all that pesky tourism in the US.

Two weeks seems like a bureaucratic problem that needs to be fixed. Signage should be inplace...but how often does this happen and how is it handled in the other direction? Say if a US citizen with say his guns in his cowboy truck is out hunting and wanders across the border into Mexico or Canada? I fell like we are being given one side of a larger picture for propoganda purposes and it kinda pisses me off.

What propaganda message are you seeing here?

Ask Andrew Tahmooressi.

I still don't see the propaganda angle.

Edit: My bad. I misread this comment as being from rapscallion.

Either way, I'm not sure these are comparable.

A group of 1500 Americans accidentally washed across the river into Ontario. We still haven't gotten them back.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not. As near as I can tell everybody who washed up illegally was returned to the states, Port Huron, Mich. to be precise, the same day. I wasn't even able to find any reports of charges being filed against any of the party goers.

Sorry, I probably need to turn my sarcasm up to 13.9 now. 1500 Americans accidentally cross the border without ID and are not only not detained for weeks or strip searched, but are rescued and returned safely home on a bus the very same day. Though one wonders how the US Border Patrol determined they weren't a bunch of Canadian terrorists coming in - probably due to Obama's slipshod approach to national security (that's sarcasm again).

As an American who lived and traveled in Europe for 6 years, I find it difficult to imagine going out without your travel documentation.
mechavolt said @ 2:58am GMT on 24th Jun
As someone who was travelling, of course you carried your travel documentation. Do you carry your passport with you when you go to walk the dog in the morning? How about when you go out to eat at a restaurant?

I went to see the russian border while going with Hurtigrutten with my family. The excursion said 'boat safari' so we did not suspect we were just going to look into russia and hear horror stories about people going further than certain poles in the ground. My brother, who is russian and had his passport, joked about going across, but the guide could not recommend it.

He once collected a confused tourist that got away from the group from across the border though. Due to some miracle he was not spotted.

Swedish-norwegian border is far more relaxed. And any russians going the other way would be in far less trouble in Norway.

Makes you wonder why on earth Canada still hasn’t built a huge wall on that border for protection.
hellboy said @ 7:10pm GMT on 23rd Jun
They can't get Donald Trump to pay for it.
