quote [ In a landmark study, researchers connected two of the most ubiquitous viral infections to Alzheimer’s disease.
Scientists …collected tisssue samples from 944 brains …The team found over 500 types of viruses present in these brains. Two, however, stood out as existing in particularly high concentrations in brains with Alzheimer’s: human herpes virus (HHV) 6 and 7. … herpes is derived from a Greek word meaning “to creep” because of their ability to crawl up our nerves and plant themselves, in the case of HHV 6 and HHV 7, our brains. Scientists have estimated that 90% of the US population over the age of 5 have HHV 6 or 7, but never have any symptoms. ] Alzheimer’s has stumped physicians and pharmaceutical companies for decades.

Alternate explanation: there are secret genies all around us, and people with herpes are more likely to have nights they wish to forget.

Okay but... if 90% of the population has HHV6/7, then why don't 90% of the population get Alzheimer's? There's obviously something else going on.
