This is how Google will collapse

quote [ The way things might turn out for Google if current trends continue. ]

I'd love to see internet advertising implode, but this seems pretty optimistic to me.

Does Google still exist as a company? Do they still have that search engine?

Nah, everyone's been using bing for years.

Yeah. I just checked, and the google.com domain is directing to a generic third-party page offering to sell it to me. I guess AOL outlasted them after all.

AOL? Look, Steve Case's little project isn't going to amount to much. People are going to come back to GEnie in droves, and that'll be the internet of the future. Or maybe CompuServ, the company that invented gif format.

I don't know, ask Jeeves.

I'll stick with AltaVista, thanks very much.

Whippersnappers...the old echoes are the only way to access the alt.binaries newsgroups. That reminds me...I gotta make a trip to circuit city and get me a new 1200 baud modem

Google has the money and the credit to make 2 types of sites...one with ads and overly annoying that helps to push you to the other one without ads , but for subscription rates. They can also outlast anyone else that tries to do that, or just buy them out and put out their lights.

Yeah, that's why I'm skeptical that Google will be killed off by ad-blockers. I think whoever figures out how to make internet micro-payments cheap and secure will own the Web 3.0.
