I’m Not Black, I’m Kanye

quote [ Kanye West wants freedom—white freedom. ]

I was thinking the same thing when this latest Kanye "controversy" started, that he's become so out of touch with the average black person in America that he's at OJ level. Kim better watch out.

I'm not surprised to see Kanye with Trump, nor to discover he is about equally as ignorant of history and basic facts. They seem like very similar personalities.

Kim told him to explain his tweet. He kind of just brushed it off.

West has done something more remarkable, more amazing than Jackson, because he is a man of no mystery, overexposed, who holds the world’s attention through simply the consistent, amazing, near-peerless quality of his work.

This is the most shocking line in the article, even more so for how some variation of it appears in every one of these pieces. Where is this coming from? The man grunts over other people's music, and he has to autotune even that. Not only is there no talent there, there's not even any work to judge. He's just a Kardashian without the fake tits.

So where does this come from?

Rap isn't my go-to music, I'm not qualified to defend Kanye''s work, but I've noticed that people who love it can go on and on about it. His being an ignorant asshole is unrelated to his talent, like Charlie Daniels, or Hank Williams Jr.

He produces other artists' work, and he's produced some modern classics. That's his best work. His rapping isn't his strong suit, neither are all of his solo albums - especially the last few. He made his name as a producer and that's still where his strengths are. Also remember that a hip-hop producer writes and puts together nearly all the music for the rapper to rap over. The loud, male Kardashian thing came much later on, but he built a solid career and reputation with his talent.

I'm not a fan, but it's impossible to ignore his contribution to the genre (and beyond the genre) since the late 90s

I've never understood why anyone gives a shit what Kanye thinks or does.
