Do-It-Yourself Class Struggle

quote [ One lesson from the West Virginia teachers’ strike is clear: nobody is coming to save us. We’ll have to do it ourselves. ]

Pay attention and learn this lesson well, children.

Well, there's the Side-Struggle™, where wealthy people sell you on the idea of success through buying into one of their many labor exploitation scams. Apparently there's a tattoo package now!

There are two separate things going on in this post.

First there is a state wide teachers strike...This is not a everyday kind of strike either...this is not just a school district upset with the schoolboard over pay or benefits..this is ALL 54 districts on strike together..not the work of a union because there are 3 different unions covering the state and some of these districts are not covered by unions at all.

It is also unusual because WV being a Republican state has made It’s actually illegal for teachers to strike in West Virginia. They’re doing it anyway. So your anti union rhetoric doesn't apply here, this is different.

2ndly it talks about the upcoming vote in SCOTUS about union dues. This is a political issues masquerading as a workers issue. Basically saying that even though I asked to get a job in what I knew is a union shop now that I got it I don't like unions and don't want to pay dues. Not like I was working here before it was a union shop I came here knowingly and now I want you to change things because of ME...a bit more complicated than that but basically that's it.

This is a ploy to take away money for unions because they are the number one source of political donations for the Dems...and Republicans want them gone. It is almost a dead ball fact that he vote once again will go 5/4 and once again Kenedy will be the swing vote.

WV used to be a very liberal State.

And the Democrats used to support unions and the Coal industry was big business and job producer in an otherwise poor state.
