Feels like something is missing from the picture. The jet and wads of cash are normal for a cult leader with friends in the government. The weapons not so much.

If you're taking a large sum of cash into a politically unstable country, some sort of protection seems fitting. The article said "parts" though, so maybe a gift for his friends in the government?

The Philippines doesn't have a shortage of guns though. Is the implied assumption here that they were drugrunners or weapons smugglers, or just packed for a nice weekend?
