I try to listen to ten records in a week for a similar reason. I have similar feelings on how I know who wrote a Dio's song from the Holy Diver album and I am at a loos about materials from bands like Editors or Novelists. I try to get to fill those blanks while I listen to the album. But most of the time I find it hard to do back home or the bus home is just too noisy. I wish I had the time to sit through a whole record again, like when I was younger and didn't have to run all over the world.
But again, with my kids I notice that the concept of an album as a whole is missing. My son is a musician and he hardly longer than a couple minutes playing something, and then jumps to something totally different. I had to convince him to work on songs longer than six minutes because all his compositions were too short, albeit pehaps too much into tune with today's musical taste. |

Spotify has definitely changed how I listen to music, and yeah... not for the better. I'll throw on something new and like it, but then it is gone and I don't recall what it was at all.
