Southern California SE'ers - How are you all holding out?

quote [ Emergency crews in the Los Angeles area were contending with brisk winds, steep terrain and fatigue from days of relentless work. ]

It's hot and fucked up here with some insane wind gusts. Couple that with a whole lot of rain last year, and zero-zip-nada rain this year and the whole southern part of the state is dry and crispy.

Stay safe - and don't be one of those idiots I have been seeing on the news reports watering down a bank with a garden hose as a 30 foot wall of flame approaches them.

I am in San Diego - the Santa Ana winds started full blast this morning (88 mph in one area - expecting 100 later today). Three fires already since 8am; good news is that two were knocked out fast.

A few years ago we had to evacuate - I hope not this year.

So, how are we holding out? Very concerned!

Yeah, it's really gross out there. Non-stop alerts.

San Diego here and.... Oh, uhm, what cdwilli1 said.

It's hot, it's dry, it's windy, we just have the good fortune that nothing has touched anything major off yet.

The Lilac fire in North County just sprang up and burnt down a building

Saw that, fortunately heading south, but I work in Rancho Bernardo and there were scrambling to head up to evac.

They just had a fire alert on the 15 by Fallbrook.

I'm in a suburb east of Los Angeles/north of Long Beach. No fires near me. I don't even smell the smoke anymore (haven't since Tuesday).

I think the problem is it seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before

Part of the problem is that it does rain. Last winter/spring was wet, so everything bloomed, then no rain through the summer dries out all the new growth which just becomes tinder.

Shit's fun in Carlsbad. Somehow my house is out of the path of the smoke, which is nice.

I seem to be living in the only part of California that's not on fire...
