Now they are coming after my health insurance.

quote [ “Today, we see evidence that the Trump administration is quietly planning to dismantle veterans’ health care,” said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. “House Democrats will fight tooth and nail against any efforts to diminish or destroy VA’s irreplaceable role as the chief coordinator, advocate and manager of care for veterans.” ]

Well I can't say I'm surprised. I think they have greatly underestimated how much we actually like VA.

Ahhh... Lets take public schools as an example...not the best in the world but if you cut off their funding and support you can damn sure make em worse.

Point is this is not designed to make anything better...you have the most effective cheapest way to deliver healthcare and you want to replace it why?

You ask if anything could be worse I want to know what is better how can you for the same price deliver any where near the care?

I have seen over 10 doctors all of them specialist this year alone ...wait time is usually 2 to 3 weeks...I get called for a once a year physical and flu shots just like any other care facility and if I am referred for something and VA doesn't have a specialist in my area they send me to see a local DR.

So I have no idea what you are talking about.

With all of this doom and gloom I found a good news story.

This man gives the homeless free haircuts — so someone gave him a barbershop

Most Americans are not veterans. The talk about "our heroes" is is happy talk bullshit to make us feel like we are not just unraringly sending them to their deaths for reasons we do not understand or care about.

This will not hurt Trump, and his supporters will find a way to call it better for the vets and good for the country. A segment of the population will be outraged, but it will not cost Trump 1 vote, because that segment did not and will never vote for him anyway.

I do not support this, but I feel that this is a reasonably accurate prediction.

It would actually be pretty impressive if anyone could do worse than the current VA.

I take it you have never been in a VA hospital.

You mean the ones where people keep dying in the lobby waiting to be seen? No, but I have a lot of family members and friends who have. I also have family and friends that work for the VA.

Just one personal example is a medically retired brother who's been trying to get seen for over 3 years and counting. He's actually managed to get an appointment scheduled a couple of times only to drive 3 hours and find out they had canceled it. The only response he can get now is that they can't accept any new patients.

Stop reading the propaganda. The reason the VA is having some problems getting everybody in is that we have been fighting wars for over 10 years and in the process cut the VA budget.

Truth is once you get into the VA system even with the heavy load of new patients VA is a pretty good place to get your healthcare.

VA may top other hospitals in quality but not patient satisfaction

Don't get me wrong the place ain't perfect by any means. The facilities are to far apart, it is a pain in the ass getting meds by mail, and there are a couple of hospitals that still suck and like it said in the report

"But when it came to several measures of patient satisfaction like doctors’ and nurses’ communication skills and pain management, the VA lagged behind"

That is because Dr.s and Nurses are a lot of foreign nationals who are good at their job but English is a second language...and they don't out Oxy...for much at all. so if you have chronic pain and want opioids, not the place for you.

But you act like this is a effort to make veterans healthcare better...it ain't.

Vets groups ALL oppose it

This is just more Starve the beast

I didn't say I thought it was a good idea, I just said that I would be shocked if they could make it worse. As far as 'propaganda', if you knew anything about my current situation you would know how little stock I put into anything that any form of media puts out. My opinions are based primarily on the experiences of those I care about. Veterans of multiple generations and multiple VA employees in my life all feel that the entire system is fucked.

I understand many of the reasons why it sucks, but it sucks way more than it has to. The bottom line is it's easy to dole out cash on the front end, but not enough people give a shit about taking care of soldiers after they've been broken. Then back to my initial point, who cares about the quality of care if you can't manage to even be seen by someone?
